Contents
This is an octagonal grey stone base with a cross on top. The original inscriptions for the 1914-1918 war dead ran round on all eight faces, and the 1939-1945 inscriptions were added later below the previous ones. Fortunately, they are easily distinguished, the later inscriptions being more deeply incised and in a slightly different font. For clarity, I have separated out the two runs of inscriptions, and also sorted the later set into alphabetic order.

The Somerset memorial lists Herbert Earl Barnard of "Glanes, Worcs." (sic) and Victor Hancocks of Claines as privates in the Somerset Light Infantry in WW I. Victor Hancocks is not listed on this memorial. Herbert Barnard, John Henry George and Thomas Pyewere ex-pupils of Worcester Grammar School, and their names are listed on the school memorial
