Just by the town Visitor's centre, is a stone cross with these two plaques on its base:

This ancient parish cross was placed here in memory of the men who fell in the Great War 1914-1918 whose names are recorded in the Parish Church

and in memory of the men who fell in World War II whose names are recorded in the parish church

In Loving memory of Wyndham Alexander Smith 2nd Lieutenant in the Gloucestershire Royal Hussars, who was killed in action at Katia, in the Sinai Peninsula on Easter Day, 1916 This tablet was erected by his Widow and Parents

In loving memory of Arthur Cyril Beaumont Johnson, Major, 1st Gurkha Rifles, who died at Dharmsala, India on 11th September 1904 in his 42nd year this tablet is erected by his family
